It's been said that Thanksgiving is the forgotten holiday -- the stores already have Christmas decorations up, there's Christmas music on the radio, etc. But it doesn't take much thinking to realize why the world has no use for Thanksgiving -- if you can't acknowledge the One who gave you all things, and if you can't thank Him for them, who do you thank? As my brother-in-law joked, "Thank you, me!" There is no point in having a day of giving thanks when there is no One to give thanks to.
We, on the other hand, know to Whom we owe all praise and thanksgiving -- the One from whom all blessings flow.
1 Chronicles 16:35 Then say, "Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us and deliver us from the nations, to give thanks to Your holy name, and glory in Your praise."
Psalm 30:4 Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, and give thanks to His holy name.
Psalm 136:1-3 Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. Give thanks to the God of gods, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Excellent post! I think also that Thanksgiving is forgotten because it's not a big money spending holiday...which is another story all together.
